چکیده

Background: Polyelectrolyte complexes are complexes formed by interaction of two oppositely charged ions. This study deals with formation of chitosan–Aegle marmelos polyelectrolyte complex. Polyelectrolyte complex was found to be used as pharmaceutical excipient. Aim: The present study aimed to synthesize Chitosan–Aegle marmelos polyelectrolyte complex and their characterization and to compare it with polymer forming complex. Methods: In this study, Aegle marmelos polymer was extracted and further polyelectrolyte complex was formed by ionic cross-linking it with chitosan. Dried complex was evaluated for micromeritic properties and flow behaviour and also for IR study. Results: Results of micromeritic study and flow behaviour predicted that complex can be used as an efficient excipient. IR study depicted that there was no difference among the peaks of polymers and their complex. IN Conclusions: From the findings it was concluded that Chitosan-Aegle marmelos polyelectrolyte complex was efficient pharmaceutical excipient.
